Empanadas are traditional half-moon shaped dishes, beloved in many Latin American countries, that are made with flour-based dough wrapped around various fillings like meat and vegetables. Making these by hand is both time-consuming and requires skilled techniques. The new EMPANADA LINE from Rheon makes continuous automated production possible and efficient. Empanadas can now be easily made with consistent high quality, drastically boosting production efficiency.

Forming Process Flow

1.Extrude Dough and Deposit Filling

The dough is extruded in sheet form from the KN551’s dough-extruding mechanism. Then, the Cut Valve Depositor places a precise amount of filling evenly onto the dough sheet.

2.Crease the Dough

The center of the dough sheet is creased with a Fold Marking Roller.

3.Fold the Dough Over

With the Folding Unit, one side of the dough is folded over the other, making sure its edges align perfectly as it covers the filling.

4.Form Into a Half-Moon

The Empanada Cutter cuts out the dough at the right spot to securely encase the filling. Simultaneously, it applies a fork pattern to the curved edge.
